10:30 a.m. – Raising a Dairy Goat for Milk, Cheese and Fun – Jordan Kimball

Hardy, intelligent, clean, prolific producers of milk and offspring, dairy goats are an economical and enjoyable addition to a homestead. Their milk can be used to make excellent cheese, yogurt, kefir, and butter, and their ability to digest shrubs, weeds, and difficult-to-compost food waste can help with managing your farm. In this workshop you will learn about the economics and logistics of keeping a dairy goat, and come to appreciate why goats have been an integral part of sustainable farming systems for 10,000 years. Jordan Kimball is an international Agroforester by profession who divides his time between West Africa and a family farm in Wilton where he raises goats, various poultry, and vegetables.
